I'm just saying that I don't think it's really that common to replace bassists, any more than it is to replace drummers or even guitarists. It just depends on "whose" band it is, or who the main songwriters are. Though not even always.
Bands where the bassist is heavily involved in the songwriting seem less likely to replace the bassist compared to bands where the bassist is not involved in the songwriting.
But not even always. Ian Hill has outlasted quite a few drummers and has seen two singers come and go.
IMO, if the singer doesn't have an extremely distinctive voice, they're the most replaceable member.
