Oh i should add- the guys my friend dates aren't rich, or exceptionally good looking, or any of the other obvious reasons people date a-holes.

It just irritates me because she is very smart and beautiful and could have any guy she wanted. I just don't get it.

I'll stick to my original reaction: Some girls are stupid and easily impressed by cheap insincere flattery, arrogance, and baubles.

Why waste your time on a stupid one, or even wishing you could get a stupid one? You'll only end up disappointed down the road.

Find a smart one. There are lots of girls out there who appreciate a nice guy, even if he's not an arrogant prick.

Those guys are not jerks.They just don't have to be so desperately nice all the time to get the girl.
Work on your confidence, practice your people skills, interact with as many people day to day as you possibly can. Yes even talking it up with the guy at the gas station will help you when it's time to talk to that cute girl you like.
Develop the skills to talk to everyone the same always treat other people as though they are your equal. Take a job in sales, this will teach you sooooooooooo much about how to approach women and people in general. However DO NOT go after women as a sales man LOL just apply the people skills you learn into the way you approach people.

From what i've gathered, men are attracted to looks whereas women are attracted to power. Jerks display power and therefore are more desirable to girls. Also girls are attracted to what other girls want.

Don't worry about it. Go find girls who'll date you. You don't want the girls that date jerks because... well, they date jerks. It doesn't exactly show great taste.
