Double Bass Why do you play?

It's the sound that coalesces meaning from chaos for me.

This is a very good way of putting it. Music is what helps get me out of my own head and into the moment. In that sense, it feels kind of like meditation or prayer. Go too long without partaking in it, and the chaos returns and takes over.

There is a certain voice that demands to be expressed - it seems to demand to be heard on bass. And when that voice gets to experience the freedom to speak, there's not quite any pleasure that comes close to playing.

Then when you get with a group of people, each with the intent of forming a unique and singular voice. When you have to common ground and with a common intent, things start to take flight. Man, that's the addiction that keeps me coming back time and again.
