Why does a thread discussing a band get locked?

Are you claiming that if a topic of interest goes down the hill due to a discussion that I don't want to read, nor want to be part off, I should leave the room and stop being interested in the topic?
If you don't think a specific discussion is productive or relevant to your interests, yes you certainly shouldn't engage it any longer.

and... The OP and much of the thread are a rule 5 violation.
Not going to hand out tickets.
I understand the questioning. There are a lot of shades of grey and judgement calls in running any forum. We probably don't get them all "right", especially for what any particular person's definition of "right" is. You may not agree with all or many or any of them.
Depending on your degree of dissatisfaction you can choose to not participate, or to use the PM function to ask questions. You might not get an answer that you like, and we do not discuss actions taken against particular members (e.g., "YoSomeDude was cool, why did you ban him?")
Doing so publicly (e.g. in a forum thread) is a violation of the Terms of Service to which you agreed when you signed up to join.
Closing this so nobody winds up with party favors.
