why does the moon light sonata sound good on bass?

First time I heard Stu Hamm play it, I was blown away. It is a piece of music that, due to it's slow tempo and chord voicing, just sits well on bass guitar.

I know that Hamm is renown for his rendition of Linus and Lucy (aka, The Peanuts Theme), but I like his version of Moonlight Sonata (originally recorded on his "Radio Free Albemuth" album) MUCH better, IMHO...

It's a great song. I often try to push my bandmates to try our songs with acoustic guitars. There are some exceptions where Guitar parts are very percussive where it doesn't work but it often does. I think great songs should sound good in both electric and acoustic settings. So maybe it's a similar deal.

Anything can be turned into bluegrass.

HolyCrap! I never even thought about trying this on bass. I really ought to start thinking out of the box... I've got tons of keyboard/piano stuff that would make that nice transition. Thanks for the inspiration!
