Why doesn't anybody believe me...

....when I tell them I know a sure fire cure for hiccups???

A teaspoon of sugar swallowed, without letting it dissolve, wipes them out. Every time. It has something to do with the crystals getting into the air pockets (or something like that) that cause the hiccups.

Whenever I tell someone however, despite how serious and convincing I try to be, they smile, laugh, roll their eyes, or just ignore me. Even if their hiccups are killing them!

I'm getting fed up with it!!!!

Oh the humanity.....

Somebody please tell me why? I cant lose another night's sleep.

I believe you. It's worked for me countless times. It may just be a placebo effect, but if it does the job, why not?

Sugar has become the enemy of all mankind. If you give children sugar, you are satan. If you consume sugar, you are a dipstick.

My kids were over at aonther kid's house tue other day. As all kids will do, they asked for a snack. They saw a bowl of apples on tue counter and asked if they could have one. The mother replied "Does your mom and dad let you have that much sugar in your house? I sure hope not!"

APPLES! WE'RE TALKING APPLES!!!!!

Hippies are stupid. :banghead:
That's twice that you've called me stupid now......:eyebrow:....

I get the hiccups far too often for an adult. I will give this a shot, the problem is that 1.) wouldn't a tea spoon of sugar without any liquid choke you? and 2.) How often does the average person have sugar around?
Something that works 90% of the time for me is standing still, holding a deep breath, and pressing my palm firmly against my abdomen just below my sternum. Rubbing that spot will work as well.
I once looked up hiccups since I get them so often, and was surprised that there is little medical research about them. It is like hair loss; it happens all the time and people just shrug it off. No one seems to know why it happens.

One time during a bout of hiccups, a friend offered to scare me. I accepted.

“No matter what you do with your life,” he said, “you’ll die never knowing for certain if anyone ever loved you in a way that you would find meaningful.”

That was four years ago. Haven’t hiccupped since.

Just for the record, I may be old, but I definitely love you in a way that you would find meaningful.
