"Why don't you play a normal guitar?" -.-

I've been playing bass 45 years and my brother still doesn't get it, he says all I do is "strum strum strum" as he plays flamenco air guitar to demonstrate to others how easy it is. I never let it worry me, it is his problem not mine.

If you can come up with a comparison that they would understand then it might help them to see. American football is maybe not the best example where you live but some team sport might help them.

Or maybe not, my brother wouldn't see the connection. :rollno:

Too bad all I have at home for practice is a 15-watt guitar amp that is not mine :P Don't wanna ruin the speaker :)

Oooo, now we're talking; here's your tactic-

Mom: So, what are you doing again? Play me a song otherwise I think you're just making noise.

You: That's because I don't have the right equipment. If you help me get this 500 watt bass combo then I will play a song just for you!

Everytime a family member bugs you, respond with the musician equivalent of 'I can haz Cheezburger'?

YES! Worth a shot. :bassist:

Gotta challenge "em.....

Obviously they are insanely jealous of your ability on the bass...and feel left out because they can't participate.

Tell them:- "if you want join in...then all of you learn to sing in harmony...and I will back you up on the bass"

Also tell them :- "Show me the signed contract where it says because I am playing a musical instrument it needs to be to your requirements"
