Why is Bass Muff so cheap?

I disagree with you about the EHX boxes not being cheap. A huge chunk of their lineup is under $100 and the stuff that costs more is usually pretty unique, feature laden or both.

the BBM is really great... nothing against boutique muffs, but most of us would be better off getting a BBM and taking our gals out to dinner or something

I have a concern that while the BBM sounds great, maybe its not built as well as the rest of the EHX lineup (which ain't cheap).

This is assuming that, in general, EHX pedals are built well. I've never owned one so I don't know.

EHX pedals aren't built well. they often sound amazing, but are never built well- especially the $280+ pedals, i've had three of those turn into large "mute" switches on me, without any rough treatment or misuse.

so, stop assuming such crazy things

If you put out a great product at a great price, the volume of units that you sell will make you more money in the long run.

It's good marketing strategy to keep the price low. Musicians are so very brand-loyal and brand-conscious. (we'll even pay money to wear a shirt with a favorite logo )

Cheap enough to try out even if you're not sure you'll play it. And then you're in the club.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the BBM, but you certainly can't fault it. Its an incredibly useful fuzz for most applications, its cheap as hell, and so on.

This is my $0.02 as well. I think they generally have good build quality, but both of the EHX pedals I've owned (BBM Pi and Q-Tron+) have not been the best craftsmanship.
