Why is it that................

I was reading some other message boards around on the internet. Someone always makes a "most overrated" guitarist thread in the music sections. More times then not, Kurt Cobain is brought up and then everyone goes into a flurry of responses about how bad he was.

I don't understand because no one ever considered him a guitar great to begin with, so what are these people talking about?

And then in the same thread someone will bring up Hendrix, and then a huge arguement breaks out about that. There is always that one guitarist who HATES Hendrix for whatever reason they can't explain or back up.

I don't understand guitarists.

Have you seen the "Overrated...." thread in the Bassists forum?

Bad Brains..................did you know that I knew Cobain many years ago when he lived near Aberdeen, Washington? This was way before Nirvana. You're not going to believe this, but he did some construction work. I bet he was even up before 10AM doing it too. You would have hated him even worse back then. :D

Sting's hardly the shreddin' bass player but he wrote great songs. McCartney has great chops & great songs.

Jaco had great chops and great songs. So did Hendrix for that matter. And they all were innovative and developed their talents from recording to recording.

But my Dad prefers classical and has heard none of the above.

So it goes.
