If I'm not mistaken, Randy made a bunch of instruments for some cats in Japan about 4-5 years ago, then slowed down due to a uptick in domestic orders!! (Part of the reason he wasn't at NAMM this year!!) Hence the fact that there are some in the Japanese market. Randy is a master instrument builder and moreover a great person! I love the Wyn I own!!
The love for Wyn basses is a little rare. To me, they are works of art that also functions very well as a musical instrument.
Personally, I like and prefer basses that aren’t mass produced and feel better about supporting small/independent US builders over factory produced basses from mass produced parts. Randall hand cuts and shapes his woods into custom basses!
The wait is the biggest hurdle to owning a custom Wyn, but once it’s in hands, it is well worth the wait!
I’m currently waiting for my 2019 Class custom build to be finished, and it will be my second Wyn and hopefully my last custom build by any builder.
