I love bridge talk...

Hey, maybe the chicks will think you are extra cool if you have a badass bridge. No...you know what...all the folks in the audience will marvel at your cool bridge, the extra sustain and the depth of your tone. No, wait...that's not it...all of the bass players in the audience will respect you more. Yeah, that's it. That's the reason you should get a badass bridge. Ugh.

You know what I like in a bridge??? Saddles. And the ability to intonate. And quick release is awesome. Aside from that it's a part and one part does not the sum make.

So you guys go ahead and talk about your fancy bridges...there will be those of us who like it simple and really don't care what's on here as long as the functionality is.

You fancy bridge talkers, you. :hiding:

Don't know, haven't really looked into what other replacement bridges are available. All I know the Badass works for me, I've had one on my P-bass for 11 years. More even response and somehow it cured my bass of weird buzzes or rattles at certain notes. One nice bonus: my P-bass was slightly neck-heavy, not annoyingly so, but after installing the heavier bridge it now balances perfectly. And it doesn't hurt that it says "badass" :cool:

just a thought. i see it done on auto forums alot, getting a bunch of people to commit and the manufacture will go into a limited run

Most likely. If we have anything that's close to a "Inherent Community Failure" it's that we refuse to realize the negatives or drawbacks of "The Talkbass Effect" that our combined commentary has on a subject or piece of gear. By our very nature, we're a subgenre (Message Board) of a subgenre (communication among bassists) among a smallish genre of musicians (Bassists. We can support one major publication with others such as "Guitar World's Bass Guitar" failed badly and a few smaller ezines/subsections of other magazines and Online Publications In short, we think our opinions and viewpoints represent the whole of the bass players and sometimes a more "enlightened" discussion.

....I honestly think it's no more than 3-5%. As smart, communicative, and helpful as we are, if we were "Se7en" our failing is Pride and we'd have no noses. :smug: Such is an example of a Hipshot for a six-string. Firstly, as stated perfectly before, the BA I & II were designed as drop-in replacements to replace truly substandard bridges when the replacement part business was getting started with All-Parts, Duncan, DiMarzio, Warmoth, and others were getting started supplying parts to both techs who didn't get nearly the help from "Mother Companies" as they do now (in the "pre-endorsement" period, why should Fender or Gibson help your average guitarist? They already had your money...) But "substandard" in quality doesn't mean "substandard" in measurements, and there was a true lack of the sizes if replacement parts. (If I had to take a wild guess, I believe it would have been "shaving" of custom necks in the late '70s and the creation of differently-sized nuts for Floyd Rose-equipped guitars in the late '70s)

...getting to the point in a faster manner, at this point there are far too many players that prefer to have their bass set up a certainly way physically and for Hipshot to design and tool-up for a six-string version, there would have to be a large amount of sizes just to cover the basics. Also consider this - the BA I/II came to light at a time where the four and certainly in the early days the five-string bridge quality was very much needed: by the time the six-string "trickled-down" to midrange and low-range basses, even their bridges were designed to be a very much workable piece of hardware. There's far-less need within the marketplace for a high-quality replacement six-string bridge then there was a decade or two ago

This one gets my vote if what you're looking for is the BAII bridge design. I have to think that Mr. Smith took the design to the next logical level and made it a QR design. Those bridges look tasty to me, altho I'm seriously GAS'in for the whole package from Mr. Smith, so my view is probably a bit skewed. ;)
