Regardless, my point is that drop tuning is an important aspect of many musicians' styles, and it seems like string companies would be wise to realize that not ever "heavy" bassist plays a five-string.

Regardless, my point is that drop tuning is an important aspect of many musicians' styles, and it seems like string companies would be wise to realize that not ever "heavy" bassist plays a five-string.
I know what was implied, I just find it hard to see any link between the origins of hardcore and newer interpretation of hardcore today. I say today like I was actually old enough to listen to it in the 80s but Start Today was out before I was even born 
If I needed a low tuning Id be all over heavy string on a 4 though, I barely use my G at the moment on mine so I could probably get away with it at the moment but Id have to relearn everything all over again which would be a pain in the arse...

It's easier to buy the single strings IMO...
