I named him Sprog.
A Blue Heeler/Australian cattle dog.
I referenced the Road Warrior movie but the name of the dog was “dog”
So after going through all the characters names I settled on Max’s sons name in the first Mad Max film. It fit perfect because it’s English slang for baby or a new recruit.

When we picked up our dog from the shelter he had been beaten and abused by some A$$ Hole. He had a broken rib and ear problems from be kicked and/or punched. The lady at the shelter last words as we were leaving commented, "You are one "Lucky Dog" to go to such a nice home." That name, Lucky Dog, became his new name.

The first dog I adopted from a shelter happened to be of the breed I had been specifically looking for, a Bouvier des Flanders. Had been looking at breeders but the dogs were trendy back in the ‘80’s and very expensive. I adopted my Bouv for $25. What do you call a Bouvier des Flanders for $25? DEAL!
I got a Puli from a terrible breeder a few years later. They are Hungarian herding dogs. The breeder said he had a heart murmur and she couldn’t sell him. It turned out he had a hole in the ventral wall of his heart! My vet said he’d be lucky to live out a year. We put him down shortly after his 15th birthday.
He had plenty of other issues including getting caught in a leg trap somewhere in the woods. He actually had to chew his right rear leg off to get free. He was gone for five days and nights. His survival was nothing short of a miracle. That dog was a survivor!!! His name was NAGY, named after Imre Nagy the President of Hungary during their revolt against the Soviet Union. He was regarded by the Hungarians as a hero and we think our little Nagy lead quite a heroic life as well.
Our current dog is a Komondor, a Hungarian livestock guardian. He’s 125 pounds and 32 inches at the withers. We work with the Mid Atlantic States Komondor Club and took him in at 18 months (he’s 3 1/2 years old now). The original owners just couldn’t handle a demanding dog like this. His name, when we picked him up, was ALPHA. We think the breeder named him Alpha because that’s what he was, the alpha of the litter. We didn’t want to try a new name on an 18 month old dog so we just started calling him ALFIE. My wife regularly sings “What’s it All About” and it seems to calm him down.

This is Alfie our Komondor. We live in the woods so we keep his hair short.
Here’s a photo of our first Komondor. She was also a rescue with a lot of medical issues. Her name was Irie. Komondorok, when shown in full coat have long dreadlocks, hence her name. We live in the woods and keep all our dogs in puppy cuts.

Then we had Maddux "Big Butt". He was rescued from a Braves' fan.
Now we have Rocky "Rockstar". He looks great on jogs in the street

I have a wife and two daughters. It's me and a lot of female in my house. When we got a dog, I insisted on two things.
1) It's a male dog.
2) I get to name him.
His name is "Dude". Now there's more dude around my house.

Spectacular. I've seen little black dreadlocks called Pulis. And I've seen dogs like that one called Pulis. Is that a different dog? Or just a misnamed Komondor
The Puli (plural is Pulik) is a smaller dog, typically around 30 pounds. It's the herder on the farm. They are usually black although grey, rust and white are totally acceptable. The Komondor (Komondorok is the plural) are always white and typically weigh in at over 100 pounds. They are incredibly strong dogs whose sole purpose is to watch over the flock protecting them from predators. In the last decade or so, another Hungarian herder, the Pumi, has also gained a foothold here in the US. They are adorable dogs that are smaller than the Pulik, typically not found corded and have energy like a Border Collie!
Our Frenchie is named Ozzy.
He’s a batpig. There’s the old story (no clue if actually true, but..) of Ozzy Osbourne and the bat. So he was named Ozzy about 10 minutes into our 4 hour drive home from picking him up as a puppy.
