Standard EADG tuning. A string, 3rd fret = C.

Besides, 5 strings are for guys who aren't happy inside. *runs like hell*
Just get a 5 string. No need for alternate tunings unless you are playing chords. You're going to play notes - why move them around?
Yeah I can agree with that. I am a 5 guy and I'm not really a "happy" person. But, then again so are alot of people besides Cobain, George Harison, Hank Williams Sr., Wolfgang from the Misfits (Now part of Gorgeous Frakenstein), and many others aren't/weren't happy people either and they played guitar.
Back to the OP get a 5 string that way you tune less between songs and that's always cool.
The best alternate tuning is CGCF. Forget a 5 string, if your band is tuning drop C, it's to bounce off that open C, and you'll kill yourself trying to bounce down to the 1st fret all the time. Besides, 5 strings are for guys who aren't happy inside. *runs like hell*
OP:Don't believe the hype, you don't need a 5 string.
Paul Gray didn't need no stinkin 5 string.![]()
