Wide padded strap options

I've been using old Moody straps forever, but now I need more. What wide straps do people like now? I think leather is fine and bonus points for thicker/padded.

I recently bought a Levy's garment leather strap:
Bass - M4GF-BLK

It is 3 1/2" wide.
But what I like about it compared to the others in the store, is how soft and supple it is.
It feels like an old worn-in strap.
Super nice and doesn't dig into my neck like stiff leather can.

It has padding, but it is not as thickly padded as others.
I prefer this one as it molds to my shoulder better.

I recently got a couple of the 4 1/2 inch Levy's padded bass straps from SweetWater. They are really nice. I also bought a GruvGear solo Neo. There isn't a bit of leather in it, but it is comfy. LG makes some with big memory foam pads as well. Plus, all the others listed here.

All of my straps are wide padded black leather Levy's, but don't ask me specifically which model, because I don't think they are even marked?

I use Birch & Smith, both 2 and 3". They are nicely made and padded. Leather is good quality. Available on Amazon.

OK, I took a look at the strap that's on my StingRay, and I'm pretty sure it's an older version of a Levy's MSSB2-BLK. It could also be an MSS1. Although there are no model number markings on it, and it looks a little different to the ones they are making now, it looks in most respects identical. I bought this strap probably 20 years ago, so it's probable that the design has changed a bit since then. It measures 3.25" wide at the widest part, although the MSS2 and MSSB2 are listed as being 3" wide. There is an ever wider version available, at 4.5" wide, the MSSB2-4-BLK. That's what I would buy if I were buying today. I need to get out my Warwick and check that one, because it's similar, but a little different. That one has a velcro adjuster on it, I think?

I got out my Warwick, and it has a Levy's MSS1Z strap on it, which is no longer made. It's somewhat fancier than the current MSS1, and as I said, it had a velcro adjuster and the tail end is black leather over black nylon webbing. The MSS1 is listed as 3" wide, as well, but the one I have measures, like my StingRay strap, a little over 3.25" wide, more like 3-3/8", but definitely not 3.5"

which lead me to believe both of my straps are MSS1 types, because the difference between the MSS1 and MSS2 lines are the type of leather.

Another vote for the Levy's M4GF- (in whatever color). It's two very soft pieces of leather with some thin padding between.

A wider strap chafes my neck or I have to slide it further out on the shoulder where it doesn't feel as secure. The M4GF- just sits correctly in the 'pocket' between shoulder bone and neck for me. More padding also makes a strap tend to slide off my shoulder and the M4GF-xxx has the right amount.
I strongly prefer all-leather straps because leather doesn't slide around when you sweat heavily (at this moment, it's 107° heat index outside here), it doesn't react with any type of finish on a bass, and (with time & perspiration) leather conforms to your body and becomes even more comfortable.

The Levy's MSS straps have too much padding for me, and I don't like the big Levy's logo right out front, prefer a solid black strap that I can dress up instead. But they're well-made.

Older Levy's MSS straps don't have the logo on them. Mine are both about 20 years old.

I've been using the Levy's 4 1/2" strap for years. Its the most comfortable strap I've used but it may be too wide for some folks.

The 4.5" Levy's MSS is a gorgeous strap that seems like exactly what the OP is looking for. For me it was too wide to make full contact with my shoulder, loaded up the inside edge and dug into my neck. But the 3" [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] version is pretty much the only strap I've used for at least 15 years.

I just got a 4" Moody artist strap. It is so nice. Nothing wrong with the LK I'd been using but the Moody is much better.
