Widening a neck pocket by 1mm

will probably give this a first shot. i do have an orbital sander. guess we'll start with 220 grit as mentioned previously and see how that goes.
Bear in mind an orbital sander gives a finer finish than hand sandIng with the equivalent grit. So you might find 220 a bit slow.
I used 80 to do the initial heavy cut then followed by 120.
Do a couple of passes then offer it up to the pocket then repeat as required

here's a quick shot. not perfect but nice enough for me. thanks again to all for the suggestions. :)
