Wilkinson Soapbar Bass Pickups

I looked and looked around this forum and couldn't find anyone who had these in their bass so I decided to go ahead and buy a set from ebay. They are inexpensive, and I wanted to replace the pickups in one bass so that they could be used in another. Its a long story but I will let everyone who is curious know how they sound. I'll let you know if it is worth the cost of them or not.

They remind me of the Metalman pickups that are in the low end Dean basses. Good solid sound. I think that adding a preamp would just make them come alive.

Overall I like them. I'll put something on youtube soon so that you can hear them.

Much better than I thought they would be for the price.

Ok, this needs an update...

I have long since sold the bass I installed the Wilkinson in. I remember it sounding good, but my ears may understand tone better.
I had two, and decided to try the other out. Huge disappointment. Weak, and a lot of muddiness. No amount of eq or knob tweaking could fix it.

I don't know if the good one was rare, or the bad one was. But the one installed recently was so bad it turned me off to the brand.

Do yourself a favor and save for a better brand. Any brand. It will be worth it.
