Will 1K make a difference?

I have a 2007 Custom Shop 59 P with a set of '63 Pure Vintage pickups and its totally alive. I have a 2018 CS 59 P in a different color and it's ok next to the '07. The stock p/u on the '18 measures 10.6k, which I'm told is typical from the custom shop. I have another set of PV's '63 I'm thinking of installing.

Would 1k make the difference?

Thanks

It depends. If the wire and the way the coils are wound are the same bobbins and magnet type and gauss, the rule of thumb is extra windings result in marginally more midrange and slightly less treble. If the magnets are different, if the bobbins are different, if the wire is different, then all bets are off.

Sorry to say I left out to say that the Fender PV '63's , on the box says 12k, measured at 11.6K.

That's the 1k I should if mentioned

That's 400 ohms difference (0.4K), not 1000 (1K). And what's the accuracy spec on your meter?

10,6K and 11,6K have 1K difference.
I'd say that with those basses you can't say what sound difference is from pickups, what from woods or strings etc. I bet all combinations will sound more or less like a bass guitar.

Got it now, the post I quoted was very confusing. And I agree, not enough information to make an informed guess.

So going back to a question-

Could the difference of the 1k help the bass become more alive, like it's cousin I have in Alder. The Alder one I have is super responsive. You touch it and it flies in terms off sound and feel
My answer is 'not bloody likely.' Some basses have 'it' and some don't. Many of us have thrown lots of parts and money at those without 'it' never to get 'it' to happen, much to our collective chagrin.

Not if the difference is noticeable unplugged.
