Looking for 2 sounds - neck pickup by itself and neck/bridge pickup in series. Have no use for parallel or the bridge pickup by itself. Currently the bass is wired in series with no toggle switch but that neck only tone might be useful for some things.
Sure, place the switch between the two pickups in the circuit and simply have it sink the bridge pickup to ground, leaving the neck pickup active. The only downside is that you will lose the humbucking benefits of running both pickups.
@Lo-E you mean when its in the neck only position? when in series I'll still have the hum bucking benefits? The bass originally had a traditional 3 way so I'm cool with the neck pickup alone - its a lipstick and did not hum by itself
I've never seen a diagram for this exact setup, but (I hope this isn't insulting) that's probably because it's so simple it doesn't need a diagram.
The "pickup off" position of the switch just needs to connect the two leads of the bridge pickup together, which effectively shorts it out and removes it from the circuit.
Thinking about it - maybe I could use a kill button for the bridge pickup rather than a toggle since I never liked the look of a toggle on a guitar anyway?
