Will a Mono Case eat my gold hardware?

got this M80 dual case. I like mono stuff a lot. I was noticing that inside the bag, there are reinforced, checkered parts on the inside of the case, where the tuners and the bridge and knobs are. The surface on this part seems...really rough? I know gold hardware just doesn't last forever, but I'm afraid after just a little bit of use with this bag, these surfaces will eat the finish right off of the tuners and bridge. What do ya'll think?

Sounds like a gold eater for sure. Maybe use some double-sided tape to put a few small bits of velvet/foam/carpet or whatever where the contact will occur(?)

I have a single M80 bass case if that helps. my gold-plated hardware is good.

True Story: A lot of the recording studios where I’ve worked use Crown Royal bags to protect their large-diaphragm condenser mics. It’s pretty much an industry standard.

I’m unfamilar with gold hardware and the wear thereof. However, the reinforced parts of the bag are there to protect the bag itself. I don’t imagine they’ll have a significant impact on your hardware.

Ask in bars, it might be free. I get bags an bar mats on occasion when playing an establishment, just for the asking.

Drape a small, thin baby blanket over the body before you close the case. No contact, no problem.

AH! so there is evidence.

Yeah Maybe I'll throw a cloth or two in there. Can't really put a CR bag over the bridge. Maybe a really big CR bag over the whole bass. Maybe I'll get an even bigger one for a sleeping bag.

My Mono bag has been transporting my bass with black hardware and that material has not even put a scratch on them.

The case is designed with that material so the headstock and tuning machines don’t act like a cheese grater to the case.

No worries, just carry away.

I’ve had a Mono M80 dual bag for 12 years and traveled with a fretless in it with all gold hardware. No issues. Only spot that the gold has worn is the neck plate from buckle rash.

It all depends on who made the hardware. The gold stuff Warwick uses wears off easy.
Stuff made by Schaller seems more durable.

I have one bag with that nylon panel and another bag without. Ive been good so far.

I'll light my $200 bag on fire and mail it back to the manufacturer if it ruins the gold on my 12k Wal.
