Will a Mono Case eat my gold hardware?

A friend of mine ships the basses he sells with dish towels over the headstock for protection. I have found the dishtowel solution to be (a) cheap (Costco or clearance) and (b) flexible. Note: They are rarely available in bass themes, but breakfast themes are fine by me.

100% white cotton jersey cloth (t-shirt material) can be had from a craft store for a couple bucks a yard.

I keep an old cotton pillow case in my bags and slip the body in as I put it in the bag. I figure it protects it from the zipper as put it in. Didn’t think about the bridge finish but I guess it helps protect that too. Also it’s something to wipe it with if I don’t have any other cloth with me.

It all depends on who made the hardware. The gold stuff Warwick uses wears off easy.
Stuff made by Schaller seems more durable.

I have one bag with that nylon panel and another bag without. Ive been gone so far.



I'll light my $200 bag on fire and mail it back to the manufacturer if it ruins the gold on my 12k Wal.

agreed on the Warwick. My streamer stgII has a lot of wear on the gold, but it isn't ugly, just silver.

You can go to a craft or fabric store and buy some of the same material, cut it to size and hot glue it on the nylon panel.

I wonder if putting a little carnauba wax on the parts that face the bag wouldn’t hurt? I bet @Bruce Johnson might know….
