will an ampeg vt-40 work with a markbass 610rf?

merry christmas everyone.

well after my last saga of having a beer related amp death, i now have to find another amp to use for a gig on boxing day night.

i've chased up amps from people i know around the place but to no avail :crying:

this morning when i was having the family breakfast thing, an uncle of mine said he had an amp that i could use. i went around to his place and grabbed it and took it home.

it says its an ampeg vt-40, but not as a combo, only the head. he had a cab with it, its got no name on it and the speakers are made by Lorantz (australian brand i had never heard of) and are 12 inch size.

now this IS a guitar amp i think, with a guitar cab. i wouldn't kill my markbass if i plugged the ampeg into it would i? the markbass cab has 6 10 inch speakers and says on the back 1,200 watts and 6 ohm impedence.

any help would be awesome.

I've spent a good amount of time fiddling with a V4BH into an Ampeg 6x10 cab. I can tellya, 50-100 tube watts feels like a crapload through a big cab like that. And the Markbass is about twice the cab in terms of sensitivity.

Seconded: It'll probably rock and definitely not hurt your cab.

Probably gig worthy as well.
