Anytime you switch types or brands of strings, your bass will almost certainly need a setup.

If you don't already know how to do your own, I would suggest learning the basics to save yourself some cash.

I am thinking of buying one that has flats and have heard the P sounds better with rounds. I guess you think not. What do you like about flats on a P?

I love flats on a Precision. Try it. You just might like it...

CapnSev is right, you will definitely need a setup. It's actually really easy to do yourself, just pick up a cheap bass (if you can afford it) and experiment. Sometimes I love flats on my P, but other times I really long for that roundwound crunch that I've only ever got out of a Precision....

Yes. You'll notice that intonation is way off even if you stick to the same gauge.
