Wilton Felder appreciation thread

Thanks for the great video! For some reason, I've always had trouble picking out by ear the little pull off/trill at about 0:04 of your video, at the start of "Root Down." My ear seems to hear an extra note in there sometimes, and other times it doesn't. Anyway, that bass groove is one of the best ever, and then when the drums come in, for me it's just one of the high points in music history.

I found a higher resolution copy of the album cover of Root Down.
I see the two saddle bridge (in case you were curious):

Probably the wrong thread but

And as an old person who struggles with modern technology

I think PD Bass does a fantastic website

@pdbass's videos are very concise and well thought out with great editing, sound, and educational content. They're deceptively simple, but clearly he puts a lot of work into them. I look forward to each one.

I'm going to make some time to go through them. Probably at Xmas. I think I have watched maybe half a dozen and every single one was interesting and educational

Sometimes I watch music education videos and think this is neither educational or accurate

There's not a lot of footage of Wilton Felder playing bass, and he sounds great here on his Yamaha BB2000:

I watched this the other day. Legendary player on a legendary instrument. One of my favourites.
I was tricked by the cover photo. I thought it was purple burst with matching headstock. Now that would have been cool!
