I finally downloaded winisd and have been playing around with it. Kind of fun but

1)How do you determine how much power a driver will handle once it has been modeled in a box?

2)How can you determine how stuffing a sealed cab will effect the F3?
 
1. Click the "maximum power" option for the graph, you'll see the dip above and below the tuning frequency as it corresponds to xmax. That's your real power handling as far as making bass. The point where it hits the xlim spec for your driver is mechanical damage.

Make sure you have WinISD Pro alpha. More detailed about that stuff than the older beta version.

Not sure about sealed box stuffing. It defaults to I think .707 Q.

The maximum power chart.

WinISD does not have that capability. And stuffing does not lower f3. It lowers Q, which has a similar, but not identical, result.
 
Oops, I think I goofed up entering the data. The driver name (Eminence Kappalite 3015) is loaded in but I think I goofed up some data so the “Floating point division by zero” error window pops up.

How do edit the 3015 driver data I entered? Oh, and where are the added drivers stored on the hard drive (file name)?

Premade driver files - any quick links?
 
I'll have to look the Q up. I modeled my bergantino nv610 using the drivers TS parameters and internal volume and it has an f3 of 80hz. It sounds punchy and full. Some guys wouldn't have enough low lows with it though. I was modeling other diameter drivers in sealed enclosures and got it close but most had a bigger hump. So, I was wondering if stuffing would tame it.

Stuffing can lower Q by 0.1 to 0.2. If the Q is higher than 1.0 the hump can be reduced, but not eliminated, which requires reducing Q to less than 0.8.
 
Q is equal to the producet of Qes and Qms divided by the sum of both right? That would make the berg driver have a Q of 0.47 I could be wrong about what you are saying though.
Don't confuse driver Qts and sealed box Qtc. As for calculating driver Qts WinISD does that for you when you make the driver data entries.
 
How would you rate the eminence speaker designer software?
I don't use it. Where T/S spec derived calculations are concerned there's no appreciable difference with software, the math is the same. For professional applications AkAbak has some advantages, as it goes beyond just T/S, but it's a PITA to use.
