Winter Build Off 2019- Monster Mash

No reason for the Monster Mash reference, the song just popped into my head.
But whatever happened to my Transylvania Twist?

Anyway, the intended build will be:

• Rickenbacker body shape in poplar, chambered or semi hollow.
• Fender style maple neck.
• Carved maple cap
• Ebony fretless fingerboard.
• Hipshot A bridge
• Hipshot ultra light clover tuners
• 1974 Rickenbacker 4001 Bridge pickup
• 2004 Rickenbacker HiGain neck pickup.

Aside from the neck blank and the fingerboard (which will be here Thursday) this is stuff I've had laying around for a while. The poplar blank is huge and weighs a ton.
No idea about color yet, the semi-finished bass will inspire me (I hope).

Got the shapes rough cut. Almost three inches together so I need to shave that down to one and a half plus the peak of the carve.

Yeah, the difference between string spacings would account for that. I've decided 5 strings are not for me. after 45 years I can't glance down and think B.

Then hours of fun planing the body thickness with the router sled.

Time for a little weight relief

Quickie clean up with the router.

Got the top glued on. Set up the router for the truss rod channel but I’ll have to do that tomorrow.

Yeah, in this case. Other times I'll use superglue and tape.
