6 String Chambered Headless Singlecut.

Chechen burl top. Body of mahogany and walnut with chakte viga trim.

7 peice neck. Mahogany, walnut, cherry with anigre trim.

Maple finger board

Passive electronics w/ modified Rickenbacker 4003 wiring harness and Ulyate dual coil pickups (18mm spacing).

Pickups covers, knobs ect...

Floating bridge, headless tuner/ headpeice will be 3 peices constructed from walnut and brass.

Details:

This will be a multi scale instrument, B@ 36" - to C@ 33".

Neck through body construction, using a 48" blank to allow for integration of a headless unit fabricated for this build.

The headless unit planned will be very similar to prior art found throughout these forums. I will link specific examples once I begin construction.

Finally made some progress. Got my top flattened for the most part. Still another pass or two on one side... Ran out of light. Will leave me at ~1/2".

The burl is a lot gnarlier than it's exterior suggested... I think there will be some epoxy In my future.

My rudimentary router sled worked great. I'll be developing something a little more permanent later in the build.

Got saw blades in today so hope to get the neck laminates ready for glue up tomorrow.

Any recommendations on cutting 1/2" brass rod?

I'm thinking a hacksaw is my best bet.

Came here after seeing your comments in @Jisch's thread. That's a gnarly top! It would almost be a shame to fill it all in with epoxy. When there are such significant voids that runs the risk of it looking like a piece of plastic with some wood stuck in it. I like burl left open so you get the texture. But if you need the strength, you need the strength.

What about just bracing it internally so you can leave it unfilled?

Thats aIso a possibility. I'm thinking of just shaping the top and using the center as the entry point for chambering.
I love the look of raw wood. Just concerned about structural integrity.

Raining here past few days and lots of distraction with the holidays. Didn't get to work on my neck as planned and leaving town again. Such is life.

I have made a few modifications to my plans over the past few days...
