By hook or by crook, I manage to fit enough of my blank into the neck fixture to plane off the scarf joint.

Of those with the mask, I vote for the top one. Looks more consistent, edge to edge, imo.
Yeah I think with the assymetry of the body, the straighter grain works better even if the curl is a bit less pronounced. That figure may well pop out more once I apply some amber in the grain fill coat. That's certainly what happened with the quilted maple top I did last year.
I think we have a consensus! Top one it is; gluing it up now.

Had a few spare moments to work on the body a bit
Seeing them two together makes me smile.
