So we had this thing the past few months and it wrapped up a few days ago:
Winter Build Off 2022 - Renewal/Rebirth
Voting remains open until March 27. There are three voting threads:
Winter Build Off 2022 Voting - Scratch Build

Winter Build Off 2022 Voting - Partial Build

Winter Build Off 2022 Voting - Assembly Build

Amongst the incredible work that made it to the finish line, a few didn't quite make it. However, as we went along for the ride, three of them came screamingly close and deserve to be recognized in their own right.

The first is @brocket 's LeoBass JazzRay. Winter Build Off 2022 - Leo Bass JazzRay He made it all the way to the finish line, but didn't make the time cutoff for submission. I think he and I were both a little sick over this one, but out of respect for everyone, the rules must stand. A challenging build with lots of little details, the final product is eye-popping and surely would have placed well:

The next is @Lonnybass 's five string Figured Maple. New Lonnybass Coming Soon, Now in San Diego A fantastic scratch build from a really nice guy with a jealousy-inducing workshop. When this thing wraps up, it will surely be a jaw-dropper.

Last is @RichterScale 's Löwenbäss. WBO 2022: Löwenbäss Another amazing build from someone who appears to have some disturbingly bright talent when it comes to bass-building. Watch this guy. :woot:

I really wish things had worked out differently and that you'd all have been part of the voting, so I wanted to take the time to highlight your work for others. Nice job all!

Please join me in giving these builders some kudos. :woot:

as a fretless guy, i'm especially looking forward to the completion of richterscale's fretless:

Sorry, I'm gonna ruin this one with frets. I was just looking at that pic earlier and thinking it would look a lot better as a fretless. But I already cut the slots and I made it as player, so I need to be able to do that. At this stage I need to relearn how to play with frets. I don't need to drive away all the neighborhood animals and possibly my wife, trying to learn fretless.
But man, there is something sexy about the way a fretless looks.

;) it's your talent and effort, it will look great and play killer, i'm sure! i've always enjoyed seeing you work and seeing the fruits of your labor. great stuff! and FWIW: i'm able to look at any fretted instrument and imagine it as fretless!
