Winter Build Off 2022 - Renewal/Rebirth

Out of curiosity:

During Build Off, how many of you have followed all of the builds?...

So I did my very best to follow every build. Seriously, I had a lot of free time at work during the WBO so it wasn't that hard for me. I followed them up to the point of completion, then I bailed on following because it just kind of turns into 25 comments of "great job!"
But yeah, up to the point of posting the final pics, I followed them all very closely. Often times there was a lot of good info in the detailed posts that helped me along the way with my build too. So it was worth reading them all.

I just PM'd the winners of each category, and in doing so realized I never posted the finished pics of the prize pedals, so that has been remedied: Winter Build Off 2022 - Prizes

As a quick note, the jack labels (IN 9-12V OUT) on top of the compressor are sliding up a little on the one pictured, that was a misprint and will be fixed on the ones sent out for prizes.

I voted for @Beej and thought he made a great bass and deserved the win. While I don't think any of us would accuse Brent of impropriety, he has shown here why he's not only above reproach, but also a great guy and great Build Off host

It did take some wrangling for Brent to get me to be ok with receiving the @Sushi Box FX prize.

Frankly before my pedals were discovered by bassists I was selling like 1 pedal a month, and in 2021 I sold about 500 pedals. So I owe the majority of my success to the people here, and I'm happy to be able to give back

i followed a few from first to last, but i enjoyed jumping in on all of them to see what they were, where they came from, where i thought they might go, yada yada --- it's pretty special to see the things being built! way worth the price of admission --- all great stuff!

Thanks all, that's extremely kind and humbling. I certainly don't want to do anything to draw the ire of anyone's wife.

This is a nice community here and I love how everyone is open arms to everyone else 99.9% of the time. Getting to carry on the WBO torch and have it work out successfully is the best prize for me. Yes that's a cheesy cliche, but perfectly apt here.

This was a fun build off and makes me want to get cracking on designing another bass for the next one. Ah, who am I kidding, it's already fully designed and only waiting on a couple of parts. I've been unable to get a 60's import style shorty out of my brain, so now it's down on paper. See ya in June!

Correct, these are being built specially for the build-off and will not be available for sale as regular offerings. The Rebirth Preamp is almost identical to my Space Heater preamp which I sell regularly, but I don't currently offer a compressor.

Quick update on the prizes: I got super distracted this last week (it was spring break for my daughter) and still haven't finished the prize builds, but the boards are done and enclosures have been milled, I'm hoping to get them finished up tonight or tomorrow and shipped out.

Today I received my prize for the WBO 2022 Partial Build category. What a nice thing to happen on a crappy, wet and snowy day.

I had asked for the compressor pedal as my prize, but I also bought the preamp pedal so that I had the full WBO set.

I just love unboxing cool stuff!

I have not had a chance to try either of them out since I'm working at the moment... but hope to do so in a few hours. They certainly look fantastic. Check out the little bags!
