Winter Build Off 2022 - The Great Servant

I wonder how they price slabs. By the pound maybe? The prices seem pretty arbitrary but maybe that's on purpose.

My local slab hoarder/dealer claims he prices them by length and width but it's very fluid. I'll walk through his barn and pull out a bunch of slabs and he'll just announce prices as I grab them, nothing is marked. Sometimes he'll have those same slabs in his ebay store, but the prices he announces don't match what they're listed at. Then we get to the end and chat for an hour or two about how awesome his slabs are, and magically the total is way less than the sum of the prices he announced.

^^ Be thankful. The one large importer of exotics near me charges whatever they think they can get and the attitude is (not spoken) go and buy elsewhere then.

I have no idea. Maybe by how exotic the woods are. Some of those slabs of Pecan were gorgeous!
One of the guys I was talking with there told me there are
luthiers locally buying there and some from other areas calling in for specific woods.
I have to say these people were delightful to talk to. I don't think you have any issues dealing with them.
