I did procure the fancy tail light “dark tint” spray paint @Beej suggested to try. I’ll use the scrap stainless as my first victims before doing the rings and the pickups

Up at the crack of dawn, making some progress. I need to wander into town and find screws for the corners of the trim before I cut it to final shape. Easier to drill with the extra meat to keep it rigid and clamped

Well yes, for proof of concept. The paint is going to work, just makes a few extra and odd steps to have it work. The trim rings with their unpolished finish had to be painted different that the pickups. The chrome pickup was painted once, but I touched it before it was dry

Small details
The neck plate is sprayed with the magic tint spray, I may brush the screws.

One of the things I like on my rosewood board necks is a Watco Danish oil finish. In this case, it was as much a cleaner as wood treatment

Not as much on bass 1 that’s been holding to the re- part of the theme. (Hoping my pile of all rejected stuff comes along )

I typically don’t buy wire. One of the side effects of my occupation is a ton of industrial scrap. It’s wasteful to throw away, so I’m actually very diligent about saving everything that can ever be reused. Including this temp probe that shorted. I’ll snip and test with a meter before using

So my .022 caps ended up being 2.2m or something. Never had a tone knob completely kill the volume. Pretty cool
Flopped in some .047s that tested as .047s, and we will order some new .o22 or even .015s and try again. But it plays!

Summer build off... June 21 to September 22, but don't tell anyone yet, it's a secret.

A Penny for Your Thoughts - the copper accent bass build off - with no visible screws allowed. And it has to be a Stig Pederson bass replica, too.

Editing in alternate lead titles (or is that "whole build-offs?)

• No Visible Means of Attachment.
• The Worst Bass for Metal (totally screwless, not merely hidden screws)
• Stig Only Needed Two Strings (or alternate Stig-bass-buildoff title - But is it Art?)

This bass is super easy to play. Might actually have the strings too low, 2mm off the 20th fret, but no buzz.

things to fix/change:
Bridge screws are sticking out about 5-6mm
I used shop strings, and the E is dead
Needs that .022 or .015 cap installed.

Otherwise pretty happy with it
