Wireless Guitar System Question

I have watched demos of the Nady DKW-1 VHF Wireless Guitar System, and I really like how it performs for the price of $50. Although, I have seen the Nady DKW-3 GT Guitar Wireless System on Musiciansfriend for the same price, and it appears to do the same thing, and it looks like it is made of better materials than the other Nady.

I'm just wondering what the difference between the 2 systems are. And if anyone has any experiences, please share them.

point is that its nady...cheap and horrible, wont last, terrible build quality (IMO), and not to mention that if you hear the difference in sound between that, sennheiser (which is what i have), or a line 6 product, you won't believe your ears...

save up, cheap wireless is NEVER a good idea...

This is real true! I know you really want a wireless and that maybe $50 is fair amount of cash to some, but don't do it. You'd be better off with an older used single channel VHF wireless system by A/T or Shure for $50-100. Honestly, just hang on and save your money up for something like a Line6 or maybe an A/T 2000 series model if the budget calls for it. I'd probably recommend you choose the Line6 route when you get there. If all you want to do is walk around your house and play with it, fine, but if you are gigging, nah, be a pro and buy the best gear you can afford. Wait, it is truly worth it.

I have used and sold and/or installed wireless systems that cost anywhere between $100 and $2500 per system, and the cheap ones will piss you off in absolutely no time at all.

been there dun that! My first wireless was a nady, IT SUCKED and so did the next 3 I bought. I totally gave up on wireless untill I got a line 6 g50. I would save untill i could buy at least a line 6 g30. It wont let you down!

Are you planning on using this at home or at gigs?

A guitarist in my old band had one of these. Every time he tried using it with a full band it gave him issues. He always said it worked fine whenever he used it alone.

Just as an example, we were playing at his wedding. We were doing sound check and it was working fine, then once we started playing for real during the wedding it totally crapped out on him with all kinds of interference. He had to unplug it and use a cable to finish the set.

I use a G50 and it works great.

I don't need to. I have TRIED several cheap wireless systems, including a couple of Nady ones. And I'm sorry, but trying something for myself, and realizing that it does, in fact, suck, is more proof to me than a Youtube video.

I've used a ton of wireless systems over the past 15 years. I highly recommend the Line 6 G50. I've had really good luck with mine. I got it on eBay for about $275. Make sure to buy some good replacement cables though because the ones that come with it aren't reliable. Good replacement cables are hard to find though. I bought mine from Link Removed.

G50 user here... I will never go back to cords. The end.

The G30 is $100 less though so if your on a budget...

On a similar note I very recently received an email from Line 6, it seems they are gearing up for the next G series model and wanted my opinion about a new model. Many of the questions in the pole asked about whether I would be interested in a rechargeable model with dedicated battery, if I wanted a unit with a 1/4" jack versus the mini XLR used on the G50, and if I would pay a little more for a transmitter with a metal housing (G50 has one the G30 does not). So it looks like Line 6 is thinking about introducing a rechargeable transmitter.

I have a cheap Nady. It's a UHF-7 I think. It does work. You can plug into it and walk around free as a bird and sound will come out your amp and it will even sound like a bass. That being said mine has been sitting on a shelf for a few years now. I break it out on rare occasions when I'm stuck mixing from the stage and want to walk around and hear the mix.

I can't quantify the "signal degradation" but somehow it doesn't quite sound right to me and I end up plugging back in. Maybe I'm just another cork sniffer but thats where I'm at on the cheap Nady thing.
