wireless mics?

any thought on good wireless mics?
Singer was looking at the Vokal UWS-21 Wireless Mic but i always thought nady was crap from what ive seen, any thoughts on this or alternatives that arent expensive but sound good?

There are no good sounding inexpensive wireless mics. If your budget is low stick to wired mics unless you are willing to sacrifice sound for mobility.............IMO of course

Line 6 or Sennheiser.
Not cheap, not crap.
Just avoid buying a 700 MHz(C-Band) one that is now "outlawed" by the FCC.

I replaced a Sennheiser C-Band/700 MHz with a Line 6 G50.

Shure PGX 24 systems. They have an SM 58 capsule and sound quite good. Very resonably priced. I have had a half a dozen of them and they were solid performers.

Yes the Nady stuff is junk. Its $99.00 for a reason.

You know why they're called Nady? Because everything they make sounds like balls.

I'd say to look for something used, that way you pay less but get a better quality. Just don't get anything too old. The wireless realm is one in which you need to stay current. Especially if you'll be using it in heavily populated areas.

^^^ this. All but the highest quality wireless mics sound like a $10 Radio Shack Karaoke mic.

The new digital Line6 stuff is getting great reviews, and isn't too expensive.

I've also had good experiences with the Shure PG58 and the Sennheiser Freeport systems.

The freeport starts cutting out, crackling and generally sounding terrible when the battery is dying though.

we were looking at that shure in a local shop. which did you like better the shure or the sennheiser as for the line 6 you mean like the X2 XDR955 Digital Handheld Wireless Mic System?

by cheap im saying not a $600 mic, the $300 range is good we can get away with it. He is dying to go wireless for some reason. dont matter to me, he goes wireless I take his corded SM58 LOL. I think he just wants to go wireless because I use a wireless pack on my bass because I also do sound so I walk into the croud a couple times to get a listen

In the $300 range, I'd go for the Shure: I found it better than the Sennheiser, and I haven't tried the cheaper bracket Line6.

Having used a Shure PG58 and a Sennheiser Freeport on the same night through the same system, I have to say the Shure has a better sound; it's no SM58, but it's very usable. No experience of the Line6 $300(ish) line.

As for the higher priced stuff:

At my church we use a Sennheiser system with 4 G2s and 4 G3s (gradually upgrading), all with the 500 heads. They were completely blown out of the water by some Shures we hired in for an event.

IME/IMO, unless you're willing to pay top dollar for the 900 heads, you're better off buying something other than Sennheiser wireless gear. We've tried the new digital Line6 stuff ($600ish range), and it rocks. The stock capsules with the 58beta preset sound almost the same as the real thing (direct A/B comparison), although the feedback rejection is *slightly* less impressive.

As for Shure, we've tried them for a few events/conferences; although I was impressed, there wasn't really time to do any tests or form opinon other than 'these mics are good!' I can't remember which system we were using, I think it was the one below 'top of the range' with the 58beta capsules.

Yeah. If you can't talk him out of it, but the Shure. (IMO)
