Wireless- Shure ULXP14 or Sennheiser EW 172 or 372

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but anyone out there have experience or knowledge about either of these wireless units; Shure ULXP14 or a Sennheiser EW 172 or 372? I play active 5 string basses.

I am leary of cheaper units, and cannot go more than $1,000.00. Both of these units come in around 799.

I know there is a lot of talk about the X2, but I am not a fan of Line6 stuff.

Only played the 172, but I thought it was good. I like the X2's sound better, though. What can I tell you? It's a killer sounding wireless.

I use a ULX system and really dig it. I sat in on systems with the X2 and it sounds good too. Better? I would have to do a serious A/B, but remember this. The 700Mhz range is sold to digital tv and theres a LOT of units still out there. 700 - 802 is very bad. My wireless is in the 600 range and I get updated lists of where I travel so I know what channels to key to.

Edit: Line6 hasnt changed much the x2 setup, so youre safe.

To my knowledge, the only thing Line 6 did was buy the technology and brand name, then added a third unit (a more complex stomp-box style, I believe) based on the rack unit.

I agree I'm not a huge fan of Line 6, but I don't think they've screwed this up. I use the older stomp-box style and have been amazed at the range I can roam. During our last sound check I made it to the other end of the room and down a half-flight of stairs before dropping out. It's a basic unit, but it does a great job...seriously! I believe the frequency response, at least as published, is AT LEAST as good as the Shure and Sennheiser units that cost far more. And, if you look at my signature or profile you'll see the three basses I'm using with it.
