Wireless system problems. Only screws up at one bar

I have 2 wireless systems bot play great at other venues but screw up at the bar I play every week. Would a power conditioner help or what would? Really pissing me off. For 6 years I played this bar several of those years wireless and now they moved where the band sets up and we must be on another circuit. now I get part way into the first set and it starts snapping and giving me static. Any ideas would be great. Thanks..Tom

Well, I can tell you this, a power conditioner isn't going to help. If it is a problem with the electrical circuit you are now using, maybe you could run a long heavy duty extension cord over to where you used to plug in and see if this stops the problem.

I would think it is less likely to be the outlet you are on than it is some sort of RF interference. Has the bar changed anything else? What wireless systems do you use?

Thanks thought about trying the long power cord idea. I figured this would let me know if it was the circuit or not but only assuming the bar didn't change anything. The bar owner likes me so I will ask him if he changed anything. I have an AGK and a senheiser

The fact that it happens with both units makes it unlikely it is your units. I would use a good extension cord, like a Yellow Jacket or equivalent and see if this helps. Have they added new neon signs or computer systems? Are any of your band mates having issues with their units?

Do any electrical devices come on at the same time your wireless starts actin up?
Large outdoor sign with sequenced bulbs? Neon sign? Arc welding class next door?

I tend to agree with the RF diagnosis.

I don't know if they may have put up a new sign though. I turn off the one near me when I plug in.

Nobody else goes wireless it is my job to go out in the bar and check the sound mix.

Hey Tom-

I took at look at the Google earth image, rotating street level view, and spotted right away what may be your problem - looks like there are some electrical transmission lines running right next to the place, with a couple of those big suspended transformer units. I'd imagine they are likely creating monster Rf noise, so wireless may be picking it up.

As good a reason as any. I work with hundreds and hundreds of wireless systems each year. Some in the heart of major league cities, some seemingly 10 to 20 miles from anything. With wireless systems you really have a couple choices.

Choice 1: change your frequency. If you cannot do that you are screwed. There is nothing else you can do about it. Nada, zero, zip, zilch, that is a dead Polly!
Choice 2: use a cord in that venue. There is no shame in this. You do have the ability. This can only be fixed by changing frequencies, there is no other fix what so ever.

I hope this has been helpful as this is the way it is with wireless. Change frequency or Use a Cord. It has nothing to do with a/c power on your rig. Stop looking there, it is a waste of your time. It can have everything to do with heavy RF and EMF coming from an adjacent power line. But change frequencies and you will be fine provided your wireless has more than ten available frequencies.

I don't know that being on the same circuit matters ( it may) but standing in front of it could be an issue. I would definitely try plugging into a different circuit next time and move away from the ATM.
