Wireless Systems

Been using the Line 6 Relay G30 for several months now. I can give it two thumbs up. Good stuff. :bassist:

Thanks for this recommendation. I have been using the G30 for a couple of months now. Flawless. I have had ZERO interference issues. One time I thought it was getting interference but after troubleshooting I found it was the battery in my bass. Great recommendation!
Thank You.

I am considering a wireless system for my bass. Last gig I was tethered to my equipment via a 12' cable.:atoz:

Two good quality cables will cost you a lot less.

You'll save on batteries , gonna have a better sound , and you will be have a spare in case of emergency.

Oh , and a cable doesn't add any latency or compression.

Are you still trolling with that tired BS???

Not trolling at all , it's a wise suggestion from a guy who plays for 33 years and who deals with wireless all the time as a soundman.

And it is no bull ****.
If you have any wireless , try the 180° phase test on a DAW between a cable and your favorite WL , then we'll discuss.

How about this:

- I highly doubt you could tell the difference in a double blind test between the Line6 wireless gear and any cable, and certainly not in a live band situation...

- It's already been discussed that any latency with these systems is not perceptable to the human ear...

- there's no compression involved whatsoever in the Line6 wireless systems...

So yeah, it IS BS - and you know it, because we've had these discussions before... and FWIW, you're not the only one here with 30+ years experience...

So to the OP:
Seems you've gotten the best and most consistant answer; Line 6 rules. Either budget XD or G30 seems you won't go wrong. Anyone else not addressing the OP's in some helpful way is just adding unecessary noise. So....I'm sure any other suggestions would probably more helpful, before this thread gets outta hand.

I wish I had the Line 6 wireless - but both mine are the X2 versions. The XDS Plus and the Rack mount XDR95. The only reason I would prefer the Line 6 ones is the longer battery life and the AA batteries. Both have been 100% reliable and I would have to say that the X2 wireless has more high end than some of my lesser quality cables I have.

I'd highly recommend buying some of these rechargeables:

I got nearly (50) 4 hour shows out of one before it wouldn't fully charge, with my XDR-95... I bought 3 of them and a charger, and am currently using the 2nd battery - well worth the money, IME - and WAY cheaper than buying 9v alkalines...

I think the math worked out to around 16 shows to the "break even" point for me - and the 1st battery atleast tripled that...

I have the Samson "bug" type with my rig and I love it. Especially because the bodypack type seemed cumbersome and still left me feeling tethered. because I switch basses during the set, taping it to my strap wasn't an option. The bug makes for a very (under 10 seconds ) switch from playing one bass to playing another. Sometimes when the batteries go old I start to loose some sustain, I just keep a freshy in there at gigs and My band doesn't play slow enough to need 15 seconds of sustain anyway.

The only thing I wish these things came with was a threaded sleeve that could mechanically connect to the output of my bass so that there is absolutely no possibility of coming unplugged. Hello? Line 6? anyone? Build me this!

I'm rocking the Line 6 G50 and it is amazing. There's no difference in sound, the clarity is perfect, the battery life is amazing and it's incredibly simple to use. For me, bass switches are no problem. I have the transmitter attached to my strap and it stays there. I use Dunlop straplocks on my basses, so I just unplug my strap and plug it into the other bass.

Plus, I was able to get a refurbed unit from ebay for only $200.

I'm onto it - thanks for the heads up. If this is as good as you say this removes any justification to update to the Line 6 versions.

I have heard great things about enerloop rechargables but unfortunately they don't do 9v batteries.

I have heard great things about enerloop rechargables but unfortunately they don't do 9v batteries.

I gig pretty much every weekend, and one full charge will almost do two 4 hour gigs, so I started charging them after every gig... I also thought about getting the G90, as one of my guitarists and several friends in my area are using the G50s with excellent results, but with the Li-Ion 9v rechargeables, I don't see the need...

I currently have 2 batteries, a charger, a total of 3 transmitters, an XDR-95 receiver, an XDS-PLUS receiver, and several spare trans cables - all of which are working quite well... So, I've decided to keep using that stuff until there's a compelling reason not to - after all, I'm currently running great sounding wireless at zero operating expense - what's not to love about that...

I've been using the Hi-Tech 9v rechargeables for well over 6 months now, and only recently "used up" the 1st battery - so, besides being "green", they've saved me a fair amount of money and trips to the store... I was paying around $2.50 each for Duracells, one of which would cover a 10-2 gig for me... One Hi-Tech 9v and charger cost me around $30 shipped, so I figured that after 15-16 shows, I'd be at the "break even" point for Duracells vs Hi-Tech... I ended up getting around 50 shows out of the 1st battery, with zero issues - so they were definitely worth it to me... Since I actually bought 3 batteries and a charger, the overall savings will be even better than that: I'm figuring 1.5-2 years of gigging around 75x per year, and have $56 total invested... I'm actually thinking about buying another battery or two, and a 2nd charger - because my X2/Line6 stuff will probably go atleast another couple of years, given my experiences thus far...

I looked into the Hi-Tech batteries for over 6 moths before jumping in - and it's proven to be a good decision...

Anyone have experience with Jangus Music digital wireless units? I got one from Zzsounds recently, used it during practice and at home. Works great so far. Small, digital, versatile, inexpensive. I tried it as a bass wireless one day and a wireless IEM another day. Gigging w/it tomorrow so we'll see!

So, how are you doing with the Jangus stuff so far?

Another vote for Line 6 G50. The bomb. Digital also so frequency range is huge and crystal clear. Receiver sits nicely on my pedal board and for the cord guy, the G50 has a cord emulation circuit that you can dial in.

From what I understand the G30 is pretty much the same animal just in a plastic instead of aluminum case on the transmitter.
