I use an AKG Proflex (UHF), which I'm happy with. UHF is generally better than VHF, and go for a diversity receiver (two independant antennas - more reliable, less dropouts). Many wireless systems simply can't handle low frequencies. Looking at the spec sheet, a lot of them don't go below 50Hz (or rather, are already 3dB down at 50Hz. E-string fundamental frequency is below 50Hz. Even one that was designed for bass that I looked at, rolled off at 50Hz.
I was disappointed with a Samson Airline 77. Sent it back.
I like the bug-style transmitter so you don't have to think about unplugging your guitar from your belt pack every time you take your guitar off. Autonomy isn't as good as the body packs, but it is certainly enough for a gig (around 6hours on a AAA cell).
I can only echo what someone else posted - don't expect to improve your sound. It can only get worse with wireless. But with my AKG, I can't really tell the difference.
