Wiring a 1/4 input into a DIY cab?

Here's the question: How do I wire a 1/4 input jack up to my speaker?

Here's the story: I didn't have enough money to buy myself anything to pair up with my Behringer 2x10. If you have any experience with it, you should know it doesn't handle low frequencies well.

I had some inspiration when I remembered I had a crossover I wasn't using, and a 15" subwoofer I could spare. I figured if I built a cab and utilized the crossover I could make up for the frequencies my 2x10 is missing. I've completed the box and now I'm stuck on wiring, I'm going to include a lot of info so I can help you help me. I don't know if it's all useful, but at least I'm not skimping out here.

^^^I've wired the speaker itself up to a 2 ohm load, so do I soder[sp?] the positive wire to one of the terminals on the 1/4 jack and use the other terminal for the negative wire?

You should see the terminals in the pict. below. One is on the bottom and one is on the side.

Well I soldered everything up and now I'm having second guesses. There's like two parts to a cable connector, if you know what I mean. [the part that goes into the 1/4 jack] The long shaft or whatever touches the metal connector on the side, and the tip touches the metal connector at the end.. So now I'm confused as to what is the positive terminal and what is the negative one.
