Wiring a on/off switch and a momentary switch in one effect pedal

Hi

I have been researching like crazy on the internet for a wiring diagram to do the following.

I have an effect pedal that I would like to turn effect on/off or momentary ( I step on the switch and its on if I step off the switch its back to no effect).

Any insight would be helpful.

Well I apparently cant post links, because I haven't posted much, but check out the websight beavis audio
Under projects, there's a section on loopers, switchers.
You could wire up the DPDT looper with a momentary, and put the effect you want to be momentary in the loop.
Then as long as you leave that effect on, it will only be in the signal path when you step on the looper.

Yes, I saw that. But I still want the option to do both. I am sure that circuit can be modified.

Right so you want to be able to turn the box on and off, then while it's on click the momentary to bring in the effect?
When you aren't stepping on the momentary the effect will be bypassed anyways, why add another step to turn this on?

But if you want to you should be able to take the connections going to tip of the send and returns jacks, and instead wire then through a momentary DPDT as shown on the no led looper.
Think of the send and return as the in and out of the no LED looper, and you should be fine.
 
A brute force way to do this would be to have a 6PDT toggle switch that would select which footswitch is enabled, the regular 3PDT or the momentary 3PDT.

The six wires on the left of the 3PDT on your diagram would be connected to the common terminal of each segment of the 6PDT, then wire one side to the regular footswitch as in your diagram, and the other side to the momentary footswitch wired the same way.

The momentary 3PDT could control it's own LED, or you could wire it to the regular footswitch and have it control the LED without installing a new one.

The 6PDT switch would control which footswitch the pedal circuit and jacks are connected to, selecting one or the other.

This is certainly not an elegant solution, but it is a 'true bypass' between two 'true bypass' switches!
 
whoa.. sounds intense.

Maybe I didn't properly explain what I want.

In this image I want to "add to" this circuit a Momentary switch, not replace the 3DPT. It will be an addition to the circuit.

Let me explain

I have the send going to my effects, i want the effects ON for the whole song, I step on the 3DPT.
But, If I only want the effect on for a brief moment I step on the momentary switch.

I hope this is clearer.

I have a Cusack single pedal tamer that allows the footswitch to behave either momentary or latching depending on a mini toggle's position - very useful little tool that's been sitting on a guitarist's pedalboard for months.
I know that's not exactly what you're asking for but if you can deal with the mini toggle it's a fairly affoardable solution. If not you could easily rehouse and mod it with a 3pdt before the circuit.
 
Why do you need the pedal to do both seems like it would be just as easy to use the pedal as the on/off and then just run it through a momentary true bypass loop such as an EHX chill switch.

If you really want to do that option. A cheaper and still effective way would be to use two 2x2 enclosures one for momentary one latching killswitches. Wouldn't take any special wiring or extra space really. Just a thought.

I want the pedal to both so I can leave the effects on or preset (turn on) what pedals I want before I use the loop. There are times I only want the effect on for a brief moment. For example, a bass line with distortion or chorus for one measure or riff

Gotcha. What you posted a few back looks like it would do the trick for sure then.
 
Well I finally put together my pedal from this diagram

and having a small problem.

It seems the the effects loop is on all the the time. The switch have no effect at all. The strange thing is that the switches do active the led. I've checked the wiring many time and it looks right.

The only thing that I did was put the led first then the resistor. The other thing is that the drawing shows the Power jack being grounded. I assume that it is grounded when it is mounted to the chassis.

Any insight or help would appreciated.

All I want to do is have the main switch (3DPT on/bypass) turn to loop on or off.

I want the momentary to turn on the loop when I step on it on turn to loop off when I step off the switch (momentary)

The switches are oriented the way the diagram shows. Is it possible that I have one 180 degree reversed? How can I tell?
