So I got this free Ampeg 410HLF cabinet and it was pretty much gutted. No speakers, horn or back plate but the cab is pretty solid otherwise. I got a deal on four Eminence BP1020-4 ohm speakers. The cab is ported on the bottom and I'm thinking I might not even use a horn so can I just get a simple back plate with one jack and wire up the drivers to it? Maybe just fill the hole where the horn should/would be? For now, will be pairing a 4-ohm Ampeg PF350 head with this cab. Any ideas, suggestions? Thanks

Wiring an Empty Ampeg Cab

Your only choice is series/parallel to get back to 4Ω. Any hole where something used to be needs to be blocked securely. I only hope the BP1020 is a suitable candidate to work well in your cabinet.

Paul brings up very valid points re:speakers working with the tuning and blocking up unused holes (tweeter, back plate, etc). Full compass also stocks the OEM drivers for this cab.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I miss-typed the driver number. These are BP 102-4, and were recommended by US Speaker. I'm leaning toward plugging the opening for the horn and using a simple back plate, not a crossover one. Playing in a low-key blues project and jamming reggae with some friend. Probably don't need and wouldn't use the tweeter. Thanks again. Appreciate it.
