Does anyone have a diagram they can turn me to for volume-volume-tone-tone. I want to wire up a bass with volume and tone for each pickup (obviously two pickups that are passive.

Keep in mind that the two tone controls will affect both pickups when both pickups are on. So don't expect to get the neck with no highs, and the bridge with.

THANK YOU...YES INDEED. A lot of folks think that it works being totaly seprate. This is why Waaaaaayyyyyyyy back when Fender ditched his concenrtics on a jazz bass and went to master tone.
No, all you need is some series resistance between the two signals.
The same way Fender used to do it.
The problem is, you lose output with the resistors though.

Yeah, but you just made yourself look foolish by saying it can't be done passively, when it can in fact be done!

Yes, but the tones are not independent. In fact, the volumes controls on a LP aren't either. If you have both pickups on, and turn down the volume all the way on one, both are muted.

The big difference is in whether or not there is a pickup selector switch to solo the pickups.
No switch- the setup is pretty useless.
With switch- Meh.
It is basically the same diagram as was given earlier. The approach fell out of favor because it does not work like most people expect. Some people do like it however and it is still used on one of the Squier Jaguar basses. You can dial down both volumes a bit to get some independence in the tone settings but of course as noted above you will lose some volume when you do that. You could also use two different tone caps and then even with the volumes maxed you would have the choice of one cap or the other or both together. Personally I think the approach gets more bad press here than it deserves. Just go into it knowing the tone controls will not be independent unless you can live with the volume compromise, something the volume knob on your amp will probably make up for.
