Wiring Diagram

Hi guys and gals,
I am trying to get a wiring diagram for my Active Ibanez SR500, I have tried the official site but it is down, the bass is about 2 years old.
I also want to wire an LED so that, when a lead is plugged in which I understand activates the battery, the LED lights up so I remember to unplug it when not in use and preserve the battery. I did have an article on how to do this but I've lost it. Can anyone help.

So you just need to add an LED to an active bass to indicate power?

All you need to do is run an LED in series with a resistor.

Run the cathode of the LED to ground, and then run the anode into the resistor. The other side of the resistor will go to the positive terminal of the battery.

The formula for determining the value of the resistor will be:

R= Vs​-Vf​/If​

Or in laymans terms, subtract the LED's load voltage from your battery voltage (The bass is running 9V, correct?) and then divide that number by the LED's current draw in amps.

What sort of drawe would this have on the battery, would it be significant?

Not much, LED's are around 15-30mA, so you can calculate that since the battery has a capacity of around 200mA. You also need to factor in the current draw of the resistor since it produces the necessary voltage drop.

No, actually, that's quite significant.

The preamp should be drawing 1-2mA, while the LED will draw about 10mA, if you choose one with a low current draw.
That means the LED is going to be drawing at least 10 times more current than the preamp.

A couple of other minor notes.

Battery capacity should have a time associated with it - mA-hours, e.g.

The resistor doesn't draw any extra current. You pick the current you want through the LED and choose the resistor to limit the current to that value. The voltage drop across the LED (from spec sheet, or use 0.6v) is subtracted from the supply voltage, and the result is what the resistor has to drop. Apply Mr. Ohm's law, and you get the resistor value you need.
