Wishbass Club (part IV)

The Corian bridge works well enough - makes the sounds quite punchy IMHO, but I also think it looks awful in its natural speckled state.

I've sprayed a few black as a result, which works well, but my main reason for going to the ebony was to up the 'attention to detail' factor, plus the paint doesn't come off! Upside is that it's seems to have delivered a more mellow and less punchy tone, better suited to a fretless.

if you had to live off of a diet of only potatoes you'd have trouble swimming too. also during the irish potato famine over 3.5 million irish people swam across the atlantic to america so they would have food.

JoJo: Interesting question; and certainly a very valid one. It's rare to be able to do all this gear purchasing within a marriage. My situation is unique (like everyone's) in that I am a newlywed really, and late in life (I'm 60). My wife came on board knowing what my passions were and I made sure she was the type of person who would be supportive of who I was, not the opposite. (I had a 'lifetime' of that with my first wife.) The other thing that helps is my wife would really love to be a musician herself and lives vicariously thru me (to some degree) with all of this. She is also very supportive of my practicing and everything else that goes with being a music person. I try to involve her when I can and she really just enjoys almost any knd of music and is quite encouraging. I can't tell you how wonderful that is and how much I thank her and God for it all.

Right now though, I am probably at the limit of my acquistion phase. With my moving and now not having a job, etc., etc., any money I spend on my hobby has to be generated from within the hobby. So, until I either start gigging or selling a refinish job or two, I have come to a stopping point in my purchases - especially after I just got a Fender B-Dec practice amp to help me hon my bass playing skills. My focus now has to be to create a shop out of the 17' x 17' garage I have; and I am finally making some progress on that. I hope to have AC out there in two weeks; which means I can actually start all the drywall work, painting, etc. I did promise photos, so I will get those up when the time arrives.

Anyway, kudos to my gal - she's a rare one! God's good ...

I'm married with three kids under the age of six. There isn't too much time for music, but I have the same basic arrangement as 49: Gig money goes to the GAS beast. Like 49, I can't complain too much. I have a nice little home studio, more drums and cymbals then you can shake a stick at (bad joke - I know), a keyboard, Chapman Stick, and a bargain-basement righty GTX 5-string bass that I turned upside down and re-strung for a lefty.

Since gigs are more rare than I'd like these days (I'm a drummer when "working") I was quite excited to find Wish and his affordable basses. Most bass companies charge extra for fretless and lefty, so I was easily looking at over a grand. Not so appealing to the wife. But $350 - no problem!

So all in all I guess I'm saying that music is great, but an understanding spouse is priceless!

I hadn't heard of it before but may have seen a similar one up for resale in the last year. Kinda has a "Tiki" feel to it...

Has a P-pup too that interests me.

No way to put up pics tonight, but I've had #00022 for, uh, about five years? Would've posted it earlier, but I don't spend too much time in the "basses" part of TB. :p

Stude body shape, Dano lipstick pickup, one volume knob... I'm a huge fan of the baseball-bat style neck, not such a huge fan of the weak G string, but hey, I dig it. Nice mellow tone, even when tuned down a step or two.
