Double Bass Wolf tone?

Hi!
I've had this problem for years now. It is a boomy sound around 90-100 hz (g). The bass is an old german flatback (100 years). I made a major repair on this bass a couple of weeks ago. The luthier opened up the bass and fixed everything in it. Now it sounds much better, but the boomy sound is still there. When You play it acoustic, you barely hear it. But it comes very noticeable through amplification. When I use my dyn-B (mounted on the body) it is extremely clear. But when using the stat B (mounted on the bridge) you can't hear it. Should I try to live with the wolf tone and find a nice pickup for the bridge, or what can this problem depend on?

Best regards/
Daniel

what bass amp are you using? I find many bass amps that play well for EB are not so good on DB. I just spent the afternoon experimenting with amps I have a 120 watt beringer and a valve pre amp ,I had changed the original speaker to an Eminance . It worked well for a Fretless eb, but since I have started on DB its not so good. I have experimented by putting in a Tweeter with a cross over which has improved it ,but its still lacks the clarity I require, today I pulled the amp head out of the Bass cab and lined out of the DI into a powered PA speaker it was much better no booming on cirtain notes . so you should try a different amp or amps ,as for me I will get an AI or an AES as soon as I have the $$$

Thank You for Your answer!
It is not the amp. On double bass i play an AI coda R. Ofcourse I have also tried it through my EBS head and cabinets and through a several PA systems on gigs and in studio. /Daniel

I recently got the Radial PZ Pre. In addition to semi-parametric mid control, it has a notch filter. With this tool it's easy to identify the problem frequency and just notch it out. There are a few URB preamps out there that have notch filters and I think some of the AI amps also have them.
