WOW, that was so cool. 
They all seemed like pretty genuine down to earth guys. I got to ask 2 questions on air.
1) do Gene and Paul write songs with each other's voices specifically in mind, mainly becuase they're so different.
2) Who was responsible for the changes to God of Thunder vs. what was recorded on the original demo. Again, because the final version is so different.
Answer 1: Paul, "no not really". A lot of times it's a group or even a producer driven decision.
Answer 2: Bob Ezrin. Paul said he was all psyc'd with the demo, because he thought he'd written himself another anthem to sing. Bob Ezrin heard it once and said, "nope, that is a Gene song". The rest is history. Paul then said he was crushed, and laughed about it.
You really got the feeling that Tommy & Eric are real members, not just hired guns. Apparently they have had just as much input on the last 2 albums as Gene & Paul have. Gene said their presence has revitalized the creative process. Paul said all the earlier members have laid the foundation for what KISS is today, and that they wouldn't be what they are today without them. But then he said that they also couldn't have gotten to where they are today with them. They really went out of their way to give Eric & Tommy their props & respect. That was kind of cool.
I was able to talk to Gene on a couple of the music breaks. He was sitting like 4 feet in front of me. I asked what his 1st bass was, he said the Lobue from Alive 1. I said no, your very 1st bass. He thought for a minute and told me it was a White Kay copy of a Beatle Bass. I asked him if he still had it, and he said that he wished he did. I asked him if he'd ever considered a five string. He asked me what he'd use it for and I said that he could play a 2 octave scale without switching positions. He thought that might be handy. I explained how I play the bass line to Rock & Roll All Night, and how I've incorporated the B string into that line. He was unimpressed, LOL. I expected nothing less.
While we were doing the photos, I told him Sir Paul made me notice the bass, but that he(Gene) made me want to play. He said "thank you, that's very kind of you to say". He also proceeded to bust my balls telling me, "you should spend more time in the gym, and less time on the bass". Those who know me, would appreciate this. I'm kind of a muscle head, and look the part. All in all, they seemd to be very involved and enjoyed hanging with the people. They weren't just going through the motions.
I thought it was cool that Gene took a minute to talk "shop" with me. He's notorious for not being much of a gear or music theory snob, and has said so in interviews. So, I really appreciated that. DID I mention I was talking to my boyhood bass hero ? Holy Crap !!!!!!
I recieved a goodie bag with a copy of the new CD, signed by all 4 guys. I also got a bit of face time with some of my boyhood heroes. I also had some very surreal experiences. I can recall many times where I made direct eye contact with Gene or Paul, and they acknowledged it. I'm sitting there like, Holy Crap....Paul and/or Gene are looking/talking directly at me ! Very surreal, you have to experience it to know what I mean.
I also met Sal & Benji from the Howard Stern Show, and I spent about 5 minutes chatting with Lisa G. form Howard 100 News. I also saw Kirk Hammet walking the halls, he's promoting a new book. VERY, VERY cool day indeed. Thanks SIRIUS !

Awesome! Not gonna lie, I'm very envious. It's cool to hear they weren't dooshes, and presented as sincere. If they were just going through the motions I would have had a wickedly sour taste in my mouth.

I think it was a P, but if it wasn't written down somewhere, I doubt he actually remembers. That's a long time ago, but that tone sure sounds like a P running thru an SVT..

Things about the old days, writing questions, production, the KISS cruise....they were all over the place. Most of the fans there knew their KISS history though.
LOL, yeah. they weren'rt nearly as pompous as I had imagined. When we did the pic, I asked if we could take the pic with all 4 of them giving me the finger. They all laughed and said, sorry we can't do that. They could've gotten all twisted, but they were cool about it
I have a few crappy ones, I'm waiting for SIRIUS to send me the real ones.
