I have never had a problem with carvin. I am guessing it is just a standard company. You have the iconic ampeg, gibson, fender, and markbass. So what happens is everyone else better be making cheap things. However, carvin would rather be with ampeg and gibson and fender and markbass. But no one really diggs them because If a person is going to pay thousands of dollars for their stuff then they are going to get gibson, fender, ampeg, and markbass. Carvin is like a middle man that most people choose to skip.

I've owned some Carvin PA equipment and it worked out okay. Wasn't the greatest but sounded good and did what it was supposed to do. I knew one guy who owned a Carvin guitar and loved it. It may be the mail order thing, its hard to spend money on something you haven't actually played.

It's most definitely the mail order for me that prevents me from buying one. I've played a few used Carvin's in stores and they were pretty nice basses, I was impressed.
I had a Pro Bass 500 amp. It was heavy, a little noisy, and sounded horrible! It was loud and reliable though.

Yeah I'm a member but I do not participate that much.
And yes I'm still happy of my basses, I was just curious why there is so much bashing.
I asked my dad who used to be an active guitarist about Carvin and he said that they used to be known for being pieces of crap. My friend has a gorgeous custom Carvin guitar. Maybe back in the day, they didnt make the best guitars and that reputation stuck.
