Double Bass Woods users: what cab?

Well, it got here yesterday and I couldn't wait to plug in the Woods and try it out in my little office room at home...

At first I was really dissapointed. In that room the cab sounded clinical and without impact. Worst of all it semed like I had to turn the Woods up super loud to get a respectable level out of it. I consoled myself with the knowledge that the last time I played through my usual rig in that room it also sounded lke crap. Something about that room...

So I took it to a gig last night. Unfortunately, a BG gig, but with a pretty loud Balkan gypsy brass band. Everyone in the group always goes through the PA except me. The venue is a good sized Turkish resturaunt with a dance floor in the middle and it's a pretty crazy scene. I set up the Epifani and lo and behold, this big warm sound came out, with plenty of clarity, and a very natural clarity at that. I had the tweeter turned up maybe a quarter of the way up from being totally defeated. Later in the evening I was feeling the need for a little more snap, so I turned the tweeter up a teeny bit more. It sounded awesome.

Here's what was really interesting. Usually when I play with this band using my smaller speaker they are always asking me to turn down. With the Epifani I never got a single funny look through 3 sets. I never felt like I couldn't be heard, nor did I feel like I was drowning anyone out. The cab blended me in with the band perfectly. I think with my other rig I was turning up louder to try to create "bigness" where the speaker's sound wasn't giving it to me. What a revelation! Thanks, eBay!

I can't wait to try it with the upright. I'll be really curious to see if I like using the tweeter with URB. I have NEVER liked using one before, but the results with the BG were so surprising and musical that I'm very curious to give it a try.
