Woodson 190 and cab

Howdy!

Picked this set up at a garage sale this morning, mint condition except for 2 missing knob covers, supposedly sitting in a garage for years.

Cranked it right up, loud and clean, but cannot find too much about it.

"...Some [Kustom] affiliated companies and trademarks were Woodson and Legend. Woodson Electronics, Inc. from Invalid Link Removed was an independent business entity founded by Mike Woodson in the early 1970s (around the same time when Kustom was acquired by Gretsch). Mike was Bud's brother-in-law and all amps and P.A. systems were manufactured in Bolivar. Several Kustom employees moved to Bolivar to work for Woodson. Legend hybrid amplifiers of Legend Musical Instruments, Inc. from Invalid Link Removed were also manufactured by the Kustom factory. Reputedly these were engineered by Richard Newman (an employee of Bonne Music Shop) and a former employee of Woodson Electronics..."

It is a Bass amp and clean at that, but with treble at 3/4 and bass at less than 1/2, my LP gets some pretty interesting tones out of it.. might be a keeper.

Nice old find. I stumbled upon one of those about a year ago in one of those "too good to be true" gear stories. Works great. Fires right up, probably gig volume usable. Sounds at least passable.

I ran across this head and picked it up, I have a question in the one eight ohm load vs the 2 16 ohm loads, is it 2 16s independently or 2 8 ohm cabs to equal 16? I cannot find any info on this. Any guidance would be appreciated!

2 16ohm cabs are 8ohms together. 2 8ohm cabs are 4ohms. When put together, the ohms are 1/2 their value.

Ok I was just confused on the wording on the speaker output where it states one 8 ohm load or 2 16 ohm loads. I thought it meant both cabs had to be 16 ohm each of using both outputs
