WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO

yes, its a really good begginer bass. id suggest it to moderatly expirenced players too. i used to have it at one point, i just ended up wanting a tbird in the end though so i traded it in, i liked it though.and actually i suggest you get an amp instead. preferbly an ampeg. the cheapest model you can find. itll give that jazz bass a nice tone!

Don't use standard cheap pc speakers. I run my bass through a Tone Port to a Roland Studio Monitor and it sounds peachy.

I plug in my Koss Porta-Pros when I play 'silent'...and i mostly have to play like that due to neighbour issues. A good pair of earphones can compensate when you can't use/or don't have an amp. Never tried it through the computer though, but don't see why it won't work.

there's a ton of them, but they all have really really bad latency. that's why i use a line6 toneport. it bypasses your sound card, has no latency, and has a ton of awesome sounds and amp settings.

They actually don't have really bad latency if you use ASIO drivers. And if you didn't get them with your computer, you can just download ASIO4ALL. I get around 4 ms latency on my piece of crap laptop soundcard.

I have tryed it and it sounds horrible its matched impedance for a microphone not a guitar or a bass for that matter. It does sound horrible and taking into consideration that money is enough of a issue that he cant afford the amp, im going to go out on a limb and say he doesnt have speakers sufficient enough to handle the stress its going to put on them..

Yes, the mic jack is designed for mics. That's why you use the line jack. And if you use anything at all for a preamp (mic jack on an old stereo reciever, cheap pedal, etc) it works even better. And if your standard computer speakers aren't giving you the juice...I'm sure you got a stereo or something around. Spend $4 on a Y cable and hook up to that. I haven't been hooked up to regular computer speakers since the early 90's.
